Nrityantar

Over the years, Nrityantar has created and presented a number of festivals and curated programmes exploring different facets of Indian classical dance. These spaces are an important part of the institution’s artistic journey, and have provided a platform to some of Bangalore's best upcoming artists.

Rasāsvāda

Rasāsvāda is a two-day classical dance festival presented by Nrityantar, bringing together soloists and ensembles from different Indian classical dance traditions. Across its two editions, the festival featured young and established performers in Kuchipudi, Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak and contemporary dance, alongside performances by leading Bengaluru-based dance ensembles. The festival offered audiences an opportunity to experience different classical forms and artistic voices within a shared programme, with each edition exploring a distinct combination of solo and ensemble performance.

Kāvyarasa

Kāvyarasa was a classical dance festival inspired by the Gīta Govinda, the 12th-century Sanskrit literary masterpiece by poet Jayadeva. The festival brought together dancers from different classical traditions to interpret selected verses from the work.Through dance, the performers explored the many shades of Radha and Krishna’s relationship – from love and longing to jealousy, separation, reconciliation and reunion. The festival offered a shared exploration of one of the most enduring works of Indian devotional and poetic literature through the language of classical dance.

Samarasa

Samarasa was a two-day classical dance festival presented by Nrityantar in 2016, built around thematic duet performances. The programme brought together senior and emerging dancers from Odissi, Bharatanatyam and contemporary practice, exploring ideas of love, devotion, human relationships and spiritual union through the vocabulary of classical dance.The festival featured Guru Smt. Ranjana Gauhar and Vrinda Chadha, P. Praveen Kumar and Dr. Soundarya Srivathsa, Madhulita Mohapatra and Bishwabhushan Mohapatra, and Seshadri Iyengar and Anuradha Vikranth.
