Young, talented Madhulita Mohapatra has carved a niche for herself as one of the leading Odissi exponents in South India. Beginning her training under Guru Krishnachandra Sahu in Bhawanipatna, and went on to be a disciple of Guru Sri Gangadhar Pradhan, Guru Smt. Aruna Mohanty & Guru Sri Pabitra Kumar Pradhan, she is admired & applauded by connoisseurs & critics for her profound artistry and her innate abhinaya quality. An A-graded artiste of Doordarshan, an empanelled artist under the ICCR & the recipient of the prestigious BCKA Yuva Kala Pratibha award, Madhulita has performed at several prestigious venues across the country & overseas.
She is selflessly devoted to the promotion & popularisation of Odissi in South India dance through her institution, Nrityantar, by performing, teaching and nurturing finest talents of the new generation of dancers. Today, the Nrityantar Dance Ensemble is one of the most sought after classical dance troupes from Karnataka and is invited by major art festivals across the country.
Her institution, Nrityantar not only trains students in Odissi in several branches across Bangalore, but also has outreach programmes, holds regular workshops and discussion forums, and hosts popular festivals in Bangalore every year.
A passionate dancer, teacher, choreographer and curator, Madhulita is dedicated to the exploration and propagation of Odissi and hopes that her institution will grow from strength to strength in the future.
